CCD images
All these images are taken with the
cpx3m
camera prototype.
M3 V-band full field
; 360 seconds total exposure, LX200-12'' at f/7, through a photometric
'V' filter, bin 1x1. Images stacked and "curved" with the gcx program. Converted
to jpeg with The Gimp. Image is at 1/2 resolution.
M3 V-band center
; Central portion of the previous frame at full resolution.
M3 I-band full field
; 460 seconds total exposure, LX-200-12'' at f/7, through a photometric
'I' filter, bin 1x1. Images stacked and "curved" with the gcx program. Converted
to jpeg with The Gimp. Image is at 1/2 resolution.
M31 nucleus;
Stack of 18 10-sec frames, 12'' at f/7. The image reaches Mag 19
despite the glow of the galaxy.
M31 south of the nucleus and M32;
Stack of 25 10-sec frames, 12'' at f/7. I could identify at least
one Cepheid (at mag 19.8) on this image; A follow-up image is certainly
planned.
moon13s.jpg
| moon3s.jpg
These two pictures had exposure times of 0.04sec. A filter was
used to reduce the brightness, and there were thin clouds, which helped
avoid saturating the sensor; taken through the 12'' at f/10.
Wide-field M31
This image is taken through a 180/2.8 ED Nikkor lens (at f/4). Total
exposure: 50mins. A larger version of the image is available
here.
Horesehead
Stack of 50 20-second images taken with the 12'' at f/7, using
a red filter. The camera was tilted when taking this image - i ''solved''
the problem by only showing a lo-res image.
V838-Monocerotis
Nova candidate showing expansion shell (picture taken on December 10,
2002), using the 12'' at f/6.3, x1 binning, stack of 39 20-second exposures.
